CMMED is an administrative group under the Vice-President for Research at the University of Hawaii, specializing in the management of large research grants. Our team of experienced professionals includes those with UH and RCUH policy and procedure, grant management, business development and information technology expertise. We work with Principal Investigators from proposal and budget writing to reporting and organizing meetings. PI’s can also take advantage of our broad network of contacts in the industry to pursue technology commercialization.

Our team facilitates research and can seamlessly attend to the vast requirements of a grant without sacrificing the merits of the scientific research. We truly believe that scientists should innovate and experiment and that CMMED can provide the administrative infrastructure to support those goals and objectives. Our services include:

• Proposal Development. We can identify possible sponsors and contribute to the management and broader impacts sections so that the proposal is more likely funded. We maintain a direct relationship with TIG, a UH-contracted consulting company that positions client proposals to be more competitive when applying for federal grants.
• Budgeting. Leverage our extensive large and small grants fiscal experience to draft an accurate and appropriate budget for your proposal.
• Financial Management. Allow us to manage the myriad accounts that come with complex and large grants, including account setup, expenditure tracking, budget forecasting and document processing.
• Grant Compliance. We understand the demands placed upon PIs by their sponsors and can work together to gain satisfactory compliance. Our existing reporting and tracking systems can be configured to meet the specific needs of your program.
• Meeting Organization. Take advantage of our experience in dealing with sponsors and event participants to arrange effective conferences or site visits.
• Online Presence. Our Information Technology specialist can create websites, information management systems and other web-enabled and interactive databases customized to your requirements.
• Technology Transfer. We can assist with agreements or contracts related to sharing materials or other intellectual property with other parties.
• Business Development. Do you need more bang in “broader impacts?” If your invention is new and unique, our group has the experience in properly disclosing discoveries to UH, engaging its value with other organizations and assistance with spinning up your own new company.
